Nuovo Creative MuVo Slim

Creative, dopo la presentazione al Cebit 2004 tenutosi qualche giorno fa ad Hannover, ha finalmente presentato sul mercato il nuovo lettore Mp3/WMA MuVo Slim, caratterizzato da dimensioni e peso ridotte rispetto agli altri modelli della stessa famiglia.

In 55x85x8mm e 34g di preso abbiamo 128 o 256mb di memoria in cui archiviare le nostre canzoni ed un display 132x32px retroilluminato blu, dove visualizzare le informazioni dei tag ID3. E' dotato anche di una radio FM con 32 stazioni memorizzabili, e per la versione USB2.0 abbiamo anche un registratore vocale.


Il prezzo previsto per l'europa è di 219€.

Nuovo iPod Mini

Dopo il successo dell'iPod, Apple si accinge a rilasciare il nuovo iPod mini, che si differenzia non solo per le dimensioni e per la capienza (4gb), ma anche per i nuovi colori.

L'Mp3 diventa surround

Il Fraunhofer Institute IIS, creatore del famosissimo formato audio Mp3, ha annunciato di presentare, per il prossimo Cebit 2004, una versione aggiornata della propria tecnologia, che per l'occasione diventerà surround.


Con la piena compatibilità con i precedenti software e codec, il nuovo Mp3 Surround permetterà di gestire 5 canali audio con un bitrate comparabile ad un normale file stereo, consentendo di avere audio posizionale senza però eccedere nelle dimensioni dei files.

Maggiori informazioni arriveranno tra breve, direttamente dalla fiera che si terrà ad Hannover. Questo il sito ufficiale.

Nuovo TV-Box da Trascend

Trascend ha presentato un nuovo box multimediale che arricchisce di funzionalità TV e registratore il nostro pc, al quale si collega mediante l'interfaccia USB2.0, che garantisce ottimi livelli qualitativi nell'immagine. Eizo integra il DVD nel LCD

Eizo ha annunciato un nuovo dispositivo LCD TV dalla diagonale di 23" dotato di un lettore dvd integrato nel case. L'arrivo sul mercato dell'FORIS.TV SC23XA1 è previsto per marzo, ad un prezzo di circa 2300$.

Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro: il top di Creative

Su X-bit labs è stata recensita la nuova scheda audio della serie Audigy 2 di creative, la Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro.

Questa scheda si identifica per avere il supporto a sistemi a 8 vie (7.1 canali), una certificazione THX e soprattutto la nuova interfaccia EAX 4.0 Advanced HD, oltre ad una porta joystick e una Firewire.


Le prestazioni come la dotazione sono al top, sebbene non si differenzi molto dal modello precedente, se non per il prezzo ancor più elevato.

Queste le conclusioni dell'autore:

Highs:

-Excellent sound quality (both in games and during music playback);
-Support of eight-channel speaker systems;
-Support of EAX 4.0 Advanced HD;
-Support of ASIO 2.0 in 24bit/96kHz mode;
-Karaoke.
Lows:

-The software bundle doesn’t include a good software DVD player;
-The reported improvement of the SNR parameter has not been confirmed by the benchmark results;
-High price.

Eight-channel sound cards from other manufacturers appeared as far back as the end of 2002, and we reviewed some most remarkable samples (the TerraTec Aureon 7.1 Space and the M-Audio Revolution 7.1). Creative was not rushing to announce a “new generation” product, waiting for its speaker system department to get ready first. Thus, Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS cards are accompanied by eight-channel speaker systems (as you remember, there were no systems to use the eight-channel capabilities of the Aureon and Revolution when they appeared). Creative recommends using Creative Inspire T7700 or a more serious model, Creative Gigaworks THX E7, with the Audigy 2 ZS.

But an eight-channel sound card from Creative was actually released back in 2002. It was Audigy 2 Platinum (Platinum eX appeared a few months later). That card used an eight-channel converter from Cirrus Logic (CS4382). The hardware part of ZS Platinum Pro, as we have seen today, differs very slightly from the predecessor.

Today, the retail version of Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro is priced at about $250. This is the topmost offer, but Creative also offers more affordable products from the ZS family. I don’t think the owners of a pervious Audigy version should bother about an upgrade. The sound card with an external I/O unit may be all right for a musician providing some flexibility in peripherals connection, but is unlikely to appeal to an audiophile (for example, I like Revolution 7.1 more as far as precision and purity of the played sound).

I should also point out that the revised software bundle accompanying the ZS family is a worthy bit. I really wonder whether Creative is going to update its sound card family once again, but with some tangible improvements on the hardware level? Who knows…

XRecorder VX2000 da AOpen

AOpen ha lanciato oggi l'XRecorder VX2000, un encoder MPEG2 con interfaccia USB 2.0 Hi-Speed. Il VX2000 permette un'alta qualità di registrazione, montaggio e scambio di file video multimediali.
Si tratta di un box esterno facilmente collegabile al PC e prevede un ingresso DV-IN (1394) e un S-video. L'XRecorder permette una minima occupazione dell'HD, permettendo con la codifica hardware in real-time di comprimere 2 minuti di film in 40 MB. Un altro vantaggio risiede nel bit-rate del video che resta comunque alto, permettendo cosi una elevata qualità in riproduzione.

Creative e ATI insieme...

Creative ha annunciato che inizierà la commercializzazione di schede grafiche con VPU ATI. La società già commercializzava schede grafiche ATI, ma esclusivamente nel mercato asiatico. Da notare come negli utlimi due anni ATI stia riuscendo a mettere in difficoltà l'ex monopolista nVidia, strappando accordi commerciali con i più importanti produttori di schede grafiche al mondo, come ad esempio il recente accordo con Asus.

Fujifilm FinePix F610: la prima 6Mp compatta

Fujifilm ha rilasciato una nuova fotocamera, la FinePix F610, la prima del segmento compatte con una matrice da ben 6Mp e capace di scattare, per mezzo di interpolazione, foto dalla risoluzione massima di 4048x3040, pari a 12mp.

EAX 4.0 per Creative

Creative ha annunciato l'uscita della nuova versione delle librerie EAX, ora giunta alla versione 4.0 per le schede audio della serie Audigy 1, Audigy 2, Audigy 2 ZS, Extigy e Live!. Caratteristica principale delle EAX 4.0 è il "Multi-Environments", effetto che permette di ricreare molteplici ambienti sonori simultaneamente, dando una estrema sensazione di realtà alla scena. Jedi Academy è il primo gioco a supportare le EAX 4.0.
