Wow !! This was the first thing to pop into my mind after all of the different sound tests. I have to agree with AOpen’s team and some sound-fanatics that the vacuum tube does give a much warmer sound then the transistor. The sound is much warmer and crisper, which means that it there are a lot more details…even though this really isn’t the case. You just hear more of the details.
The vacuum tube gives you the possibility of hearing all of the different soundtracks. The details much more clearly heard and they aren’t subdued by all of the other sounds.
This was especially good when I heard Linkin Park – “In the end”. For the first few seconds of this song there is piano playing while, in the background, there is a sample running. With the tube the piano isn’t that domineering and is therefore more soft. Or a warmer sound if you will. I really don’t know how to describe this sound experience. The only thing to say is that it is something you have to experience. Maybe you can go down to your local hifi store and try one of their tube models….just to get an idea of what the vacuum tube does to the sound….!
