Everything can pretty much be summed up by saying that this is the fastest and best gaming experience I’ve ever seen on a notebook.

Going back and looking at the Prostar DTR laptop we tested with a GeForce Go 6800 in DOOM 3 and FarCry, we can see that the Dell XPS Gen 2 with GeForce Go 6800 Ultra is providing us with a better gaming experience. In DOOM 3, we were able to play at 1600x1200 with the GeForce Go 6800 Ultra, and it was almost completely playable with 2XAA enabled. In FarCry, we were able to play at 1680x1050 with 8XAF versus 1280x960 with 4XAF on the Prostar DTR laptop with GeForce Go 6800. Though the specifications are different, the Prostar laptop had a Pentium 4 Prescott at 2.4GHz while the XPS Gen 2 has a Pentium M at 2.13GHz. Even with that CPU speed difference, the Dell XPS Gen 2 is much faster in games.

All the games that support widescreen resolutions were very playable at high resolutions, such as 1680x1050, and in some cases even 1920x1200, on the GeForce Go 6800 Ultra. In Half-Life 2, we even enjoyed 2XAA at 1680x1050 with very smooth performance and an awesome gaming experience. In Chronicles of Riddick, we had what had to be the best, crispest graphics we’ve ever seen on a laptop playing smoothly at the high widescreen resolution of 1680x1050.

XPS Gen2 si rivela quindi essere un perfetto connubbio tra stile e performance.
