With five different fan models from four different manufacturers, there is no real way of comparing one to another since each belongs in its own basket, although I can definitely give my opinion on certain features or aspects. For instance, I found the LEDs on the Antec Blue and TriLight fans to be much brighter and colorful than the LEDs found on the Cooler Master Blue LED fan, however the overall build quality of the Cooler Master Blue LED fan was quite a few notches higher than the Antec fans, which had the homemade looking circuit taped around the outside. Comparing the Thermaltake Smart Case Fan 2 to the Enermax UC-12FAB is once again rather difficult, even though have similar features. The Thermaltake Smart Case Fan 2 is only made in 80mm sizes, but the Enermax RPM Adjustable series has 80mm, 90mm, and 120mm available in three different colors, satisfying a much larger market. The Enermax fan is lacking the extra thermal-sensing device found on the Thermaltake fan, but I would have to say the Enermax fan visually appeals to a lot more. Regarding noise levels, the Thermaltake Smart Case Fan 2 at full speed is extremely loud, although at low speed it is very quiet, but hardly pushing any air. The Enermax UC-12FAB has the ability to push the most air out of the 5 fans tested, and the noise level is nowhere near as intrusive as the Thermaltake fan. All three LED fans performed much the same, and it seemed the patented rifle bearing the Cooler Master fan used didn't do all that much in the way of reducing noise. Obviously the faster the fan is spinning, the louder it will be, although different sizes and bearing types do have an impact of noise levels to a certain degree. I look forward to checking out the Y.S. Tech TMD (Tip Magnetic Drive) fans, as these are really the next generation fan we've all been looking for.
Well that's it for now, but hopefully I will be back soon with some new fans to take a look at. If you have a suggestion or would like to supply me with a particular model, you can get in touch with me here.
